TOP 10 GAMES OF THIS DECADE

INTRODUCTION
As the decade is drawing to a close there is a lot of talk about which are the best games that came into existence in the past decade and that's what we're going to be talking about in today's post.

10. Portal 2 (2011)
Released in 2011 this is the sequel to Portal and intrigued people and made them solve puzzles by placing portals and players would have to teleport through them.

Portal 2 gave all of us the option to create their own levels through map editors and allows you to play with other players as well.

Coming in the early stages of the decade, this game did pretty well and received a lot of critical acclaim and has been often called "one of the greatest games of all time".

It has sold over 4 million copies of the game across all platforms and that's a pretty good number for a game that was made over 8 years back.

9. Pokémon Go (2016)
When you're talking about most influential and entertaining games then Pokémon Go has to come up in your mind.

Released in 2016 the game changed the way many of you travelled and gave the chance for you to be real life Pokémon Masters and to capture Pokémon.

Despite being very entertaining and having a really good gameplay, the game has had its low being a part of many controversies related to accidents. Accident that are caused when people don't pay attention to their surroundings and fully immerse themselves into the game. Especially when we go onto the streets.

But despite all of that the game has mostly been regarded as one of the best mobile games and has garnered a whopping 1 Billion Downloads on all mobile devices and has been named "Best Mobile Game" by the Game Developers Choice Awards and even got "Best App of the Year" by TechCrunch.

Altogether this mobile game rose the standards for mobile games and has ever since marked it's place in gaming history.

8. Fortnite Battle Royale (2017)
It isn't long ago that Fortnite was the only word that every single one of us all around the world could say and talk about. The game was released on Windows and consoles in September of 2017.

It was more than a game and it took the world by storm, it became a global phenomenon beginning it's dominant reign back in the end of 2017 only a few months after it's release and for more than a year it was the game everyone played.

From you being able to dance and celebrate your win or do it just for fun to being able to enjoy a thrilling and entertaining few minutes trying to get the top spot by eliminating all opponents.

This game had most of the thing a gamer would want. Ever since the release of the game not only has it contributed to gaming but it has also played a huge part in the formation of new dances with many dances coming from this very game.

It also helped many world famous and known gamers such Ninja or Tfue achieve stardom and sky rocket their careers by just playing and mastering this game.

Up until the mid of this year it was pretty popular but slowly started to decline in popularity but it gained a lot of mainstream media attention when the first ever Fortnite World Cup was held where squad, duos and a solo champion was crowned, ever since earning the title of "Best Fortnite Player In The World" 16 year old Kyle Giersdorf mostly known online as Bugha has become a celebrity getting called on talk shows and doing many interviews.

The game has amassed over 250 Million downloads across all platforms and has the most concurrent viewers ever for a game with 10.8 Million players coming on to watch the in game Marshmello concert.

It has changed the landscape of gaming forever and will remain a part of history.

7. Overwatch (2016)
Overwatch is an amazing online first person shooting game where 12 players will be divided into 2 teams of 6 and the goal is to just kill all opponents until your team can win.

It might not have had that big of an impact on gaming or other aspects like some of the games above or below this game in this list but it is added in here because of it's amazing gameplay and it rightfully so has earned a lot of sales since it's release three years back in 2016.

As of November 2019 Overwatch has over 50 Million players and has won many awards including "Game of the Year" on a few occasions.

It's large list of playable characters gives the player many options to choose from and they can choose their favorite from the 30 characters in the game.

Overall it is one of the top games there is in the industry right now.

6. Dark Souls (2011)
Dark Souls is an action role playing game that was first released on console devices in September, 2011 and was then released worldwide the following month.

It is the second installment in the Souls franchise and is the successor to Demon's Souls. In Dark Souls we are in the fictional kingdom of Lordran where we will have to play the role of a cursed undead character and we have to begin a pilgrimage with the character to figure out it's kind.

It's difficulty level has been subject to a lot of good and bad criticism over the years with some saying that it "gives a good challenge to the players" and the others saying that it is "unnecessarily unforgiving". In the game we would have to search for bonfires and is the checkpoint in the game, it is scattered all around the game and is fairly common to see and use.

The game has sold over 2.3 Million copies and over 8.5 Million in the whole Dark Souls series.

5. Red Dead Redemption (2010)
Red Dead Redemption is one of the many hits made by world renowned game makers Rockstar, having been released in 2010 it's storyline where we play in the early 1900s is absolutely amazing and it's visuals, voice acting, gameplay and music have earned them a lot of critical acclaims.

Like many other games on this list, Red Dead Redemption has also earned the title "Game of the Year" from many gaming publications.

The character of John Marston who is the protagonist in the game has been named "Best New Character of the Year".

The game has sold over 15 million copies over the years and had a sequel released last year.

Red Dead Redemption 2 has been getting similar good reception like predecessor.

4. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (2015)
The Witcher 3 was released in 2015 and is the sequel to The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings.

In the game we play as Geralt of Rivia who is a Monster Hunter aka a Witcher hence the name. He is looking for his missing daughter in the game who is on the run from the Wild Hunt which is an otherworldly force.

The game's development began in 2011 and took three and a half years to be finished.

This game has also won the "Game of the Year" award in the past and is still a game that is played a lot.

As of June of 2019, the Witcher 3 has sold over 40 millions copies of the game and is a huge success.

3. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (2017)
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is set at the end of the Zelda timeline where you control Link who awakens from a hundred-year slumber to defeat Calamity Galon.

Released in 2017 the game has gotten a lot of good feedback and is part of the decades long Zelda franchise.

The development of the game lasted for five years and was launched on the developer Nintendo's own console known as Nintendo Switch alongside Wii U.

Most of the acclaim the got was for it's open-ended gameplay.

By this year, the game has sold over 16.04 millions copies all around the world which makes it the best selling Zelda game.

A sequel to the game was announced at this year's E3 convention and has made me really excited to see what's in store for us next.

2. Minecraft (2011)
Well well well it seems like we've met once again. Minecraft has been in the gaming scene for the last ten years which would make you think that isn't it from the 2000s decade.

Well, I'm here to tell you that it hadn't been released completely until 2011 so it does count on this list and is part of the games from this decade.

Minecraft has been at the top of the gaming charts on numerous charts and even now it is on top after becoming number 1 once again in June.

The game is set in a world where everything is made of blocks and there are two types of modes.
• Survival Mode
• Creative Mode

Survival Mode
Well I'm pretty sure you've all guessed what we have to do by the name. We have to survive by getting resources and making a house and cooking food.

In Survival Mode, you can complete achievements and enjoy the difficulty of living in a virtual world where everything is made up of blocks.

Creative Mode
In Creative Mode, you have access to all the items whether it be a diamond or 1000 diamonds.

It's fairly easy to build things in Creative Mode and is used mostly to make creative houses for competitions and to challenge each other.

The game is owned and developed by Mojang and is the best selling video game of all time selling over 180 Million Copies worldwide.

Minecraft is arguably one of the best games of all time. Earlier in the year it became viral once again after the King of YouTube, the YouTuber with the most subscribers PewDiePie started making videos on Minecraft again.

1. Grand Theft Auto V (2013)
GTA 5 is the best and most profitable game ever made by Rockstar and has been called the best game by a lot of people.

The graphics, storyline, gameplay etc are all the major plus points of the game.

For the first time in the series we are able to switch between players and play as three protagonists known as Franklin, Michael and Trevor.

Among all the games on this list I think GTA 5 is the only one that is still among the news all the time and many of you have been trying to solve many Easter Eggs within the game like the Mount Chilliad mystery.

The game for the first time features the option to own a pet that will play and protect you when needed.

The game is the third highest selling game of all time with over 115 Million copies sold worldwide. Currently all of us have been eagerly waiting for the announcement of GTA 6 and when it would be released.

CONCLUSION
That's it from me today and I hope all of you enjoyed the list.

If you disagree with me or think I should do more stuff like this then comment below.

    1. Thanks for saying it's nice and yeah I agree with Beat Saber being awesome but I don't think it had much of an impact like these games and it is compatibly new as well so it did not get enough time to gain the status same to the above games. Thanks for bringing up Beat Saber and have a nice day 😄
